PULSE: A New Pathway for Students Who Need It Most
When mainstream schooling isn’t the right fit, too many young people disengage and leave without a pathway.
At Pinjarra Senior High School, that’s changing.
With a $38,000 grant from Peel Community Foundation, the PULSE Program (Personalised, Unique, Leaders in Supported Education) is giving students a practical, supportive alternative — and it’s already delivering results.
Students are gaining real qualifications (Cert II courses, First Aid, WHS), workplace experience, and confidence. They’re also giving back — designing NAIDOC shirts, mentoring peers, and raising funds for the Pinjarra Women’s Centre.
Just as importantly, they feel like they belong.
“I always thought I was dumb… now I feel like I can do the work — I’m even ahead.”
With strong early outcomes, conversations are underway to continue and expand the program.
This is what place-based philanthropy looks like: local investment creating real pathways for young people to thrive.
